It is the trickiest political question of the day: how is the world going to combat climate change?

Rather than waiting for political leaders to come up with the answer, scores of Westcountry communities are looking for their own solutions. In increasing numbers, town and village groups are turning to low carbon lifestyles.

From buying food at the local store to switching to low-energy light bulbs, concerned residents up and down the region believe that together they can make a difference. And so do we.

The Western Morning News has created Green Communities, a campaign focussing on this grassroots uprising. The Green Communities website will be regularly updated with environmental news, profiles on the communities themselves and tips from campaigners about how we can all cut our carbon footprint. As well, every Monday, the newspaper will carry features on the collectives and look at the major climate change issues in detail.
