Charles Clarke joins the Lib-Dems

Sunday, September 14, 2008, 14:12

Lib-Dem conference: ...but the former Home Secretary and Gordon Brown's nemesis is only in Bournemouth for a fringe meeting.

He was discussing how Labour and the Lib-Dems could/should work together in the future. A packed house with people (especially hacks) expected dynamite from the architect of Brown's destruction.

He said nothing though during the event, and when journalists tried to collar him for a quote at the end he "went red" and insisted he was not here to discuss the PM's woes.

Rather adding to the sense that the big political news story is not being played out in Bournemouth but in the Labour meltdown with MPs crawling out of the woodwork to say there should be a "debate" about Brown's future.
