Father's plea over son's coma
Hotel waiter Kevin Fannon, 25, was found unconscious in St Efride's Road, Torre, at 1am on Saturday, June 13. It is unclear whether Mr Fannon was attacked or fell over and sustained the injury.
Mr Fannon was in a coma for nearly two weeks before he regained consciousness last weekend at Derriford Hospital.
His father, also called Kevin, said: "Although, thankfully, my son is now at home and making a recovery, he is still in a very unstable condition. He has lost two stones in weight and is still very ill.
"I would like to appeal to anyone anywhere who saw Kevin in the area that night to please come forward so that police will be able to piece together Kevin's movements prior to him sustaining these terrible injuries."
DC John Croft said: "It is still unclear what happened to Kevin that night but we are looking at the possibilities that he fell down or was assaulted.
"We are sure that someone in the Torquay area can tell us more surrounding the circumstances which left this young man in intensive care with such terrible injuries."
Police are still examining CCTV coverage of the area in a bid to retrace Mr Fannon's movements and are following up other lines of enquiry.
DC Croft said: "Although Kevin appears to be making good progress we still have not had the chance to speak to him and will not be able to do so until early next week.
"Thankfully these type of incidents are rare but we can assure communities that when they do occur the police investigate every possibility thoroughly to ensure that any offenders are brought to justice."
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Croft on 08452 77744.
