Stand up for Devon

PASSIONATE Devonians stand a chance to win £10,000 by shouting about their beloved county in the first of a string of auditions today.

Barnstaple plays host to the first round of Lovemydevon, when a panel including celebrity chef Michael Caines will judge potential Devon ambassadors.

A shortlist of three groups or individuals will each get £2,000 to rally as much publicity as possible during the month of January.

The winner, based on the amount of exposure they receive, will win the £10,000 prize.

The campaign is being led by Visit Devon, and supported by the WMN.

The first round of drop-in, X Factor-style audition takes place today at the Barnstaple Hotel, followed by The Abode in Exeter tomorrow.

The Plymouth auditions will be at the National Marine Aquarium on Saturday, November 29, all between 10am and 5pm.
