An elderly man has been flown to casualty by Cornwall Air Ambulance after suffering from severe shock and a suspected broken ankle in the smash in South East Cornwall.
Police say he was driving a green Mercedes coupe when it was involved in a collision with a grey Subaru Impreza in Looe.
The Subaru driver and three passengers are being taken to Derriford Hospital with a range of injuries described as ‘not serious’.
Paramedics were called to West Looe following the two-vehicle smash on the A387, Polperro Road.
The ambulance crew called in police at 9.54am and the Cornwall Air Ambulance arrived at the scene at around 10.10am.
A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed that one land ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the Cornish Air Ambulance were all sent to the smash.
The Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service was also called in to assist after reports that one person was trapped in the wreckage.
All the casualties were conveyed to hospital by 11.30am, a police spokeswoman said, with authorities working to clear the road and recover the damaged vehicles.
