Plymouth Argyle game abandoned
Incessant heavy rain forced referee Gary Ward to call the match in the second half with Barnsley leading 4-1.
The decision angered the Barsley team and supporters, who were en route to a comfortable victory despite the inclimate weather.
The relegation-threatened Pilgrims opened brightly when Karl Duguid converted a Alan Judge cross past Luke Steele after nine minutes.
But the lead was soon gone when Barnsley replied with four first-half goals against the driving rain at Home Park.
Daniel Bogdanovic opened the floodgates for the Tykes at 12 minutes followed by Emil Hallfredsson (16), Adam Hammill (24) and Ryan Shotton (31).
But the effort was all for naught as the game was called when the rain-soaked pitch became too dangerous to continue.
A replay will now take place.
